Life, the universe, football!
Today year 11 looked at the waves that are shorter than visible light, which are:
All these waves are harmful, with gamma being the most dangerous.
We looked at the uses of sun beds and security with ultra violet light (banknotes and driving licences), looking inside the body and checking for guns and knives at airports with x- rays, and nuclear power and bombs for gamma rays.

7WD found out why hydrogen is not used in airships when we exploded a balloon containing hydrogen gas in class.
Students then did an experiment where they tried to collect hydrogen and do their own mini explosion. Most, but not all, groups got the experiment to work.
Members of 7WD are welcome to post a comment about what they did or observed in class today.
