7WD investigated what happens when you mix acids and carbonates. We found out that bubbles of gas are made and that this gas (which is carbon dioxide) turns limewater  milky white.

Eyeball

We looked at the structure of the eye today and dissected a pigs eye. We learned the parts of the eye and what they are for:

  • the lens – to focus the rays of light
  • the cornea – a tough clear coating that also helps focus the light rays
  • the retina – the light sensitive part at the back of the eye
  • the optic nerve – to send signals to the brain ( and turn the image the right way up)
  • the pupil- a hole to let in light
  • the iris (the coloured bit) – a muscle to control the size of the pupil
