Life, the universe, football!
The kidney really is a fascinating organ. We have two but we only need one. They filter and clean your blood, removing the waste urea. They also control how much water your body retains (osmoregulation). They are involved in blood pressure and hormone release. People without a functioning kidney have to undergo regular renal dialysis. We have seen that people can have kidney problems if they are too dehydrated, and that this can cause kidney stones. Diabetes can also restrict blood flow and damage the kidney.
kidneys are also nice in a lovely steak and kidney pudding! Yum yum.
Today we looked at sexual and asexual reproduction and the advantages (and disadvantages ) of both.
Can you remember which organisms reproduce asexually?
