Year 10 are now looking at the topic of inheritance. We will study the following in the next few lessons: 

• Variation  and characteristics
• Chromosomes and Genes
• DNA
• Cell division ( mitosis and meiosis)
• Gregor Mendel and inheritance

Yesterday we looked at the menstrual cycle and hormones involved in its control. These hormones are produced in two places – the pituitary gland ( in the brain) and the ovaries. Women can control their fertility by taking fertility drugs to boost the number of eggs released and the oral contraceptive pill to stop eggs from being released. We looked at the disadvantages of both of these hormone treatments.
