Today we did an experiment with visking tubing to make a model gut. We put two substances in the gut – glucose and starch. We then tested the water the gut was left in (the ‘blood’) after 10 minutes for starch (with iodine) and for glucose (with benedicts and heat). We found out that glucose was in the water but not starch.
