Today we looked at different varieties of plants, and species of animals.

These are caused by differences in genes, but there are small differences within each variety also, and these differences are caused by the environment.

yes you can get yellow tomatoes – but you will probably have to grow them as they are difficult to get in supermarkets. You can also get stripey (tigerella) tomatoes and lots of other varieties too.

we used carbon in a charred match to reduce iron oxide to iron. We tested the iron we had made with a magnet. Carbon can be used to reduce oxides of metals lower than aluminium in the reactivity series.

If something has a high conductivity then it has a low resistance.

We measured the resistance of copper and nichrome wire, to see which was the best conductor. We did this by measuring the voltage and current and using

resistance = voltage/current.
