Polymers are chemicals made up of repeating units called monomers.

Natural polymers include starch and cellulose ( monomer is glucose)

Synthetic polymers include: polythene, polypropene, polystyrene, polyvinylchloride, nylon and kevlar.

You must know the difference between thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers and why they have different properties.

  • we looked at the reaction between calcium carbonate and hydrochloric acid. In this reaction, the carbon dioxide is collected in a gas syringe. We timed how long it took to collect a certain volume with large lumps, medium lumps and powder.
