We pay for electrricity in units. 1 unit = 1 kilowatt-hour (Kwh)

If an appliance has a power rating of 1kW and is used for 1 hour it will use 1 unit.

A unit costs about 10p.

On your electricity bill it will have the current reading and the previous reading. How can you check that you are paying the right amount?

Marvin Gaye asked this in 1970. We listened to his song ‘mercy mercy me’ which is about the damage we have done to the planet. He was ahead of his time. Cool dude.
