Today we looked at how streamlining can reduce air and water resistance.

Streamlining is used in cycling, swimming, skiing, and cars. Remember, that the faster you go the greater is the air resistance. This means a greater forward force needs to be applied. If you are driving a car this means that the engine must work harder and uses more fuel. This is obviously bad for the environment and your pocket. Travelling at 60mph rather than 70mph uses a lot less fuel. Also be careful of winding down your window on a hot day as this drastically increases air resistance.

make sure you complete the homework on speed by monday at the latest. Remember to use the speed – distance – time triangle.
