They have a north and south pole;opposite poles atract, the same poles repel;there is an invisible 3D field around a bar magnet; the Earth has a bar magnet with the S pole at the top and the N pole at the bottom (upside down to what was previously thought);Field lines always go from N to S; iron, steel, cobalt and nickel are magnetic – other metals are not.
